A Hole in the Garden!
I got home this evening to find a barrier across the front door and a hole in the path between the drive and the door (I was able to get in because they'd helpfully laid the paving flags on the grass round the barriers). Turns out the chaps replacing the gas mains couldn't get in touch with us (they claimed) to tell us what they wanted to do, so they just dug the hole anyway. I am pretty unhappy at how this has been done (although I would have consented if anyone had bothered to ask). The drive is covered in mud and the hole isn't that well protected given that I have an inquisitive four year old. Nothing I can do about it now, other than perhaps take a shovel and fill it in. Not only that, there is…

Re-enactors' Market
Went to the traders fair today, mainly because there was an officer's meeting for Fox's. While I was there I bought a few books from Paul Meekins, a small pottery kettle and some marbles for Alexander. I also had a tour of Warwick because I was driving sans navigator and went left onto the A425 instead of the A423. Still got there in the end though. Saw lots of people I hadn't seen for ages including, Edmund & Emily with little Ed, Paul Meekins, Howard Giles, Charles Kightly, Mutts, and Sophia Sidney. Also saw a fair number of others that I managed to catch up with at Sherwood Forest pretty ; Gist of the officers meeting was simply that we need to do some more recruitment, and to assist that effort we need to sort out some flyers and then…

Improper Ganda!
A fantastic collection of propaganda posters that have been photoshopped to change the message. Very funny, especially the re-enactment one, and the Cthulhu poster. Worth a few minutes of browsing past in my opinion.

How Defying Gravity would have progressed, straight from the creator | CliqueClack TV
Gravity is currently showing on BBC2, and I enjoyed it so much I watched some of it from the web. I was pretty disappointed to find that it has been canned, for now at least.

(Not so) Secret Santa
We've arranged with some friends who live nearby to do presents and other stuff together on Christmas morning. This is primarily aimed at our children but we thought that we might also get some presents ourselves. However we didn't really want to go over the top nor to make it too expensive. So our collective brains have come up with the idea that we will see who can get the most extravagant gift from eBay. We've all picked a name out of the hat (there being three couples involved) and we've set the following rules: the gift must be under £10 (and ideally that should include post & packing); it ought to be something that the chosen person will like/use; it must come from eBay; you have to have it physically available on Christmas Day; The person that we think…
