Read Around the World
A few months ago I responded to a Google+ post by Andrew Buckley, he had an idea for people around the world reading a story on camera and was looking for volunteers. The story in question is his novel 'Death, the Devil, and the Goldfish' by Andrew Buckley. You can read more on Andrew's website. The experiment started yesterday and will carry on until Christmas. So here is the link to my entry in the Read Around the World experiment! If you'd like to sign up and join in the fun just head to for more information. This is part 2, and you might want to watch Part 1 of Read Around the World first for continuity reasons. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the story as it happens. ;feature= Not my best video because I needed to read…
Join Stonewall’s #NoBystanders Campaign
Over the last couple of weeks Stonewall has started the No Bystanders Campaign to work to end homophobic bullying, watch this short video (it's 60 seconds and narrated by Sir Ian McKellen). The go over to and sign the pledge. The Pledge I will never be a bystander to bullying and teasing language. If I hear it, I will call it out and if I can, I will stop it. By adding my name I promise to stand up for fairness, kindness and never be a bystander. Comment I believe this is the least we can do as reasonable human beings, I signed up to this, and I think we all should, hence me devoting a blog post to this campaign. Go on, you know it makes sense, get on over to and sign up. Then stop being a bystander.…
Black Belt Speed Drills
I went to watch the Choi Kwang Do black belt test of one of my son's close friends this morning at the Ellis Academy of Choi Kwang Do in Redhill, Surrey. Here is a very short video (about 50 seconds) of her doing some speed drills as part of the test. I have to say I think it is awesome how fast they go, especially as they are only eight years old! Walking!
Alexander walked unassisted for the first time this afternoon! There is a short (13 second) video on the web of him taking not quite his first steps. Sadly I missed the very first time he did it because I was putting the cover back on his car seat - although he has recently taken two steps and then stopped when standing up so it could be said that he has walked already, but today is really the first day that he has properly walked. Anyway the afternoon has mostly been taken up with getting him to walk backwards and forwards between Tracy and me. The bit that wasn't doing that was getting the video into a usable format for the web and making sure the grandparents could watch it.
